Roman Sand / ローマ的砂

若手作家の塩谷良太氏が、ローマのテヴェレ川の砂を２カ所で採集して持ち帰ってきてくれました。
早速陶芸の窯で試験焼成をしてみました。焼き上がった色も質感も、日本の多摩川や
京都の鴨川、ロンドンのテムズ川、パリのセーヌ川など、これまでのどこの砂とも違う
表情です。
テヴェレ川の砂を焼いて、いつかローマの絵を描くことになるかも。


Shioya Ryota, young artist collected sand for me on the 2 points of the River Tevere in Rome Italy.
I fired them with ceramic kiln in high temperature tentatively.
The textures and colors are different from other river sands I fired ever, like the Tama River Tokyo, the Kamo River Kyoto, the River Thames London, the River Seine Paris.
Someday I might paint a picture of Rome with fired Roman sand.

光の粒　／　the grains of light

描き終わった時から乾ききるまでの絵の濡れている表面は、美しくて目が放せない。この画像は表面の水がだいぶ引いてはいるが濡れている。それでも、乾いてしまうと見えにくくなる色たちが前に出てきて鮮やかに光っている。
「光の粒」という言葉を思いついた。

The surface of painting between the time I finished painting to the time it drys up is truly fascinating and I cannot take my eyes away from it.
On this image, the water on the surface is almost gone but slightly soaked, and yet some colors brightly shining before they lurked into the dried grains on surface.
The word " the grains of light " came to my mind.

おぼつかない階調

春の夕空。

丹沢方面を仰ぐ。

その完璧な階調は、しかし美しすぎて。

僕が見たいのは、
おぼつかない階調かもしれないと気がつく。


「おぼつかない階調」？？
